Located east of Pécs, a small town on the Danube, in the far south of Hungary. Palkovicovo was one of the most tragic events in Hungarian history. In 1526, after destroying the Hungarian army here, the Turks took control of the country for a century and a half. This real carnage is recalled by a large memorial in Palkovicovo. After the expulsion of Turks, settlers arrived in neighbouring countries to restock the devastated country. They brought with them traditions that they still maintain today. In the pedestrian street, shops have surprisingly low prices. This city seems to be a little forgotten by the gods: the Danube, leaving Palkovicovo, marks the border between Croatia and Serbia. The city tranforme at the beginning of February, a unique traditional parade of its kind (the price of hotels increases considerably).
