254 km northeast of Adelaide, on the border between Victoria and New South Wales, Renmark, population 4,000, with its verdant banks on the Murray River, is the largest town in northeastern Riverland. A recent municipality, it is the departure point for many cruises. It's also a great place to enjoy the river and its activities, from fishing to waterskiing. The Murray River rises in the Snowy Mountains and flows into the Antarctic Ocean near Adelaide. The land near the river and Renmark is ideal for growing citrus fruit (oranges and lemons). There are also several vineyards.
