Even if it is not the best beer in the world (and not even the best Czech beer), the very sweet blonde from Prague can be discovered during an interesting visit, at the end of which the tasting takes place as close as possible to the tanks within the brewery's own premises in Smíchov, with an excellent menu of Czech specialities that perfectly match the cherries ! The setting is typically Czech: wood and large volumes.

Café Montmartre, formerly Cabaret Montmartre, has a long history. Since 1911, hidden away in an alleyway in the old town, it has been the HQ of intellectuals and philosophers who come to remake the world. Photos of its past can be admired on the wall, including those of Max Brod and Franz Kafka. Today, the intellectual effervescence has migrated to the café opposite (see Kaverna Retezova), but the pleasant setting has remained, ideal for sipping a selection of excellent teas and coffees or some of the very good pastries.

An Irish pub that's true to the recipe of Irish pubs around the world, and that lives up to your expectations: it's a place where you can have fun and meet people from all over the world. The Irish-Czech staff are extremely helpful. Frank, the owner, personally recommends the fish and chips and lamb, while the Guinness flows on draught between two games of darts or pool. As in all Irish pubs, sports broadcasts every day, whatever the competition, and live music enhance the evenings.

The café is on the ground floor of the hotel of the same name. Built in the Art nouveau style, it is considered one of the most beautiful in the city. Soft ambiance, Art Deco chandeliers, small marble tables, comfortable chairs, stuccoes, paintings and well-dressed waiters await you here. Unlike appearances, many young foreigners come to admire the place, become a real tourist curiosity. A coffee or a small dish, but also pancakes and different kinds of Czech pastries.

The programming is very eclectic, from blues to rock and rock to hard rock and retro orchestras. Browse the website and find the dates or artists that suit you to buy your tickets well in advance, especially in high season. In any case, you will be well settled in one of the most historic buildings in the district, which also serves a good cuisine, even if its location on the Place du Petit Côté, makes it a popular destination for tourists. A very good acoustics in this small club that programs excellent jazz shows. Mostly Czech groups, but also ensembles from other Eastern European countries or from across the Atlantic. It's a good address in his style but you'll have to think about coming early to make sure you have a table or at least a good seat. For the record, it was in this club that Bill Clinton played Summertime and My Funny Valentine with a golden saxophone offered by Václav Havel in 1994 during an official visit.

A recent club of very high level where you listen to the best musicians. You can eat it.

Everyone knows Ujezd, it's the alternative bar in the neighborhood. Open most of the day and night, it welcomes the locals, their dogs and some expats (with their dogs too). The music is good and not too loud, and one of the three floors, with three different atmospheres, will necessarily suit your desire of the moment. Upstairs, there is a pub atmosphere, on the ground floor, an artistic café atmosphere, and in the basement there is more of a crazy club. A very good address that will make your evening a successful one.

It's a very convivial address, popular with a young clientele who come to this sober, elegant place to share a few tacos or a good beer until late in the evening. The place is always full and owes its name "pompe jaune" ("yellow pump") to the antique yellow-painted water fountain in front of the terrace! The staff are friendly and the clientele young and relaxed, although we regret the lack of cultural programming for which the place would be well suited. But the atmosphere is already very festive in the dining room and around the bar!

This discotheque - a Prague institution - is in fact a gigantic leisure complex where you can eat, dance, drink and socialize until the end of the night. The kitchens of the vegetarian bar-restaurant (one of the city's best-known) stay open late. On the club side, you'll find a regular line-up of DJs from all over the world, providing themed evenings with frenzied rhythms. Enough to spend an entire evening, starting in the restaurant, then the bar, ending in the discotheque, and going out at dawn..

Smaller than the beergarden of Letná and Zižkov, it is situated in the middle of the park of Stromovka, the former royal hunting reserve. This English-style park is located in the district of Bubeneč, just beyond Letná, and has retained a very wild side, offering in particular much more shade than the other parks in the city, which is why its beergarden is very popular in summer. Open-air concerts are held occasionally on sunny days.

A small coffee in the back room of a tobacco company. However, even if the entrance does not look like much, we are very comfortable in this "back shop". It's very cosy, and the furniture is, for the most part, recycled. We come here to drink lattes, cappuccino or machiatto and talk for long hours. Very popular with students, professors and intellectuals and not very popular with tourists, despite the location, a few steps from Malostranske Náměstí. A small secret den that opens the doors to Czech neighbourhood life.

Meeting point for lovers of quiet reading and entertainment in the evening. This café has a pretty courtyard at the back of the room, particularly quiet given its central location, a stone's throw from the Place de la Vieille Ville. A place where students and literary people meet, friendly and warm. A downside to alcoholic beverages: it will be necessary to know how to be satisfied with beer because the wines selected are really not up to the task. Evening debates or occasional screenings and a small book shop.

It is impossible to resist this half-basement café, which is barely noticeable during the day but which exudes a warm atmosphere as soon as you pass by its bay windows in the evening. Very frequented by a joyful and noisy student population, always full, always lively, always full of a joyful bric-a-brac and a colorful disorder. The consoles as well as the dishes on the go are adapted to the customers and therefore cheap. A simple, authentic and very pleasant place, a stone's throw from the University of Philosophy.

Another small neighbourhood brewery, but this time with a touch of exoticism that we will like... or not. The beers are brewed on the spot but, after fermentation, they are flavoured with banana, chocolate, nettle... More than ten different recipes are to be tested: we can serve you a pint to taste before ordering the pint! Also eat with a very classic Czech menu. The interior decorations are not very exceptional but it can be a welcome stopover on this busy avenue.

Above the Roxy, NoD is Prague's "artistic" bar. Expos, parades, concerts... Prague is a small town and often has the same fashion and arts circle, so you will probably feel like you are in an unknown land, where everyone knows everyone else. The whole thing is obviously a little (very?) overrated, but it's worth seeing if you're passing through the area. The bar is bright, the decoration minimalist, refined and the space is vast. Despite the crowds in the early evening, everyone keeps their own living space.

Cocktail lovers, here is an excellent address in the Sainte-Agnès district. The great classics or creations are made from fresh fruit, cut and pressed on demand, and the boss is generous with the doses... The room is tiny, which favours contacts with an essentially Czech clientele, in a relaxed and informal atmosphere. The welcome is very friendly and the perfect location, a stone's throw from the Roxy or the beautiful breweries of the Old Town, while remaining calm, hidden in its small alleyway.

This Alla Stella Nera (Black Star) wine house is in the heart of the Old Town, between Charles Bridge and Old Town Square, in a building dating from the 15th century. You will find a very small and intimate terrace, a sort of inner courtyard, a restaurant upstairs and in the basement, but we do not recommend it: poor quality and exorbitant prices. On the other hand, the setting is perfect for the bar area where you can taste French and Italian wines as well as a selection of world wines and Italian cheeses.

This neo-baroque pavilion, built in 1891 in the middle of Letná Park, offers an expensive and classic cuisine that is not really worth a visit. However, you can simply enjoy a cold beer (expensive anyway) in a sumptuous setting with, above all, at your feet at the very bottom, the Czech capital stretching out on either side of the Vltava. For a "panoramic beer" therefore, and especially valid on sunny days, when you can sit in the sun, on one of the tables on the terrace, to enjoy both the setting and the view.

A strange and authentic place, faithful to the reputation of the somewhat crazy bars in the neighbourhood. Because it is located in the lowlands of Zižkov, on the most urban and active street in the city. Old and young mix around beers and Hermelin (the famous marinated camembert). This bar has seen a lot of things and characters! No prejudice here, you will never be looked at wrong (if you drink your beer). There's always an atmosphere. Just above the bar, along the railway line, a secret čajovna (Čajirna nad Olem).

It is here that one of the countless traces of the Brave Soldier Sheveik, the greatest Czech literary classic written by Hašek, will be found. The walls tell his story through posters or sketches, like a dozen pubs and restaurants throughout Prague, as the character has become so mythical over the years. They drink Pilsen Prazdroj 12° and also eat traditional Czech cuisine, not very refined. It is particularly touristy, so we will go there more for the setting, friendly and good-natured.

Another of those cafés set up in an emblematic Prague monument, where you can travel back in time as if you were having a cup of coffee... This superb example of Czech Art Nouveau, beautifully restored, is splendid. This makes it a must-see tourist attraction in the heart of the Municipal House. A word of advice: just drop in for a visit, or settle for the bare minimum with a coffee. Unfortunately, the cocktails are of poor quality. Even if the bar is magnificent, the cuisine is expensive and mediocre. You're only here for the setting!

The first of its kind in Prague, the Siddharta Café at the Buddha-Bar Hotel is also the latest project of the French group George V Eatertainment. A modern, intimate and warm interpretation of the Buddha-Bar concept, Siddharta Café, a trendy restaurant-bar-lounge, offers its guests a new dimension of dining in an innovative pop art "eatmosphere". The chef has created a sophisticated and contemporary menu, for all tastes and at all times, serving an "international" cuisine in this all-day-dining.

Located in a pretty old building near the river in the Malá Strana-Smíchov district, on the other side of the National Theater. It's a charming place to start the day with a hearty breakfast, if possible. The place is beautifully decorated in ^19th-century Austro-Hungarian style, with a marvellous ceiling. Feel free to wander around inside, pass by the wine cellar and take a look at the kitchen where the delicious dishes are prepared. Don't hesitate to dine here at lunchtime or in the evening, in this old-fashioned, romantic setting.

In the basement of the restaurant U Svobodných Zednářů, in one of those beautiful buildings in the old town, this pub arranged in a vast stone vaulted cellar very frequently hosts music bands for a varied program: jazz, blues, rock... Wooden tables, vaulted stone cellar, the decibels resound loudly until the early hours of the night and the atmosphere is good: young, relaxed and 1,000% Czech and of course, beer aplenty since, it's a shame, the cocktails offered at the bar are not worth much.

In the heart of Vinohrady, La Cave d'Adrien is the unmissable and indispensable wine bar for your lively evenings in Prague where different artists perform every week. Orchestrated by two brothers, wine tasting of wines from the great French wine regions and tapas make its fame. This place where you will find French elegance and know-how will welcome you in its contemporary interior designed by a designer or on its beautiful terrace for an afterwork, an evening with friends, a special event or a privatization.

A small local of regulars, a little roots, a little bohemian, very Czech. The decoration oscillates between antiques, hunting trophies and dried branches. We sit down together, along the small bar or on beautiful wooden tables to descend pints and launch big debates. An authentic neighbourhood bar, with its soul and regulars that you don't feel you're disturbing. A nice place in this neighborhood. The choice of beers is not extraordinary, but the pressure is fresh and you can taste a very good cider if you are an amateur.

Selected cafés, tasty pastries and regularly renewed art exhibitions, all with a strong African focus: the idea of the managers is to include art in a living space. A very beautiful place, discreetly hidden in the entrance of a passage. Too bad it lacks daylight, but as for the rest, there's plenty of time for a nice quiet time. The place is cosy and ideal for breakfast or later for a light lunch. Concerts are regularly organized.

In a small alleyway away from the main roads, this room welcomes a clientele, rather young and student, of regulars who come to discuss the great things of this world. A 100% Czech literary café where you can also eat for a very small fee. Czech specialities are in the spotlight, such as potato soup with mushrooms. Reservation recommended. Perfect for an early evening, but in the end you often stay longer than expected. Ideal for meeting locals. Free wifi.

During the day, a trendy café with designer furniture and contemporary décor serving delicious perfectly roasted coffees as well as excellent small snacks, perfect to satisfy small appetites during a break between two visits. In the evening, Café Neustadt changes its face and becomes a hot and late place to celebrate with DJs and other popular concerts. Coffee gives way to beer, and the tables make way for the dancers. A new place of nightlife that punctuates the evenings of Nové Město.

A beautiful open address in the heart of the booming Vršovice district, Sladkovký Café offers a calm and pleasant haven of peace, with a joyful mix of locals and expatriates. The world is redone, mixed and celebrated in a hushed, intellectual and creative atmosphere. The café also offers a beautiful culinary menu (the daily menu, served at lunch, is a bargain) and a solid cultural and musical programme that punctuates the neighbourhood's festive agenda. Smiling and friendly staff.

Coffee shop and pub located about a hundred meters from the Charles Bridge. In the heart of the "royal road", it is surprising to find here a mainly Czech clientele in a place that is almost exclusively frequented by tourists! The secret? A young and festive atmosphere and above all a variety of atmospheres in several spaces: a café during the day which becomes a pub in the evening, a small inner courtyard and a restaurant which serves a copious and cheap international cuisine. A good address in the heart of Prague.

Formerly the Prostor Skutečnost, one of the most alternative places in Prague, this bar, entirely set up in an underground space, has been renovated by the Czech Inn hostel just above. Although it has lost its authenticity, this space of labyrinthine cellars has gained in comfort and frequentation with a clientele that mixes international travellers and the youth of the district. The Basement Bar organises many parties, concerts and DJ sets, which have made the place one of the most popular places to go out in Vršovice

Within the Vyšehrad city walls is one of the most pleasant beergarden (beer gardens) in the Czech capital. Large outdoor wooden tables, draught beer, grilling, a nice atmosphere and above all an absolutely magnificent view of Prague from the ramparts of the old fortress. As Vyšehrad is a little further away, this beergarden is less frequented by tourists, although it is certainly one of the most pleasant in the city. Authentic atmosphere, very friendly.

Certainly one of the most historic places for beer in Prague, the U tří Růží brewery has been around since 1405. It couldn't be more traditional! Today, in the historic heart of the old town, this charming place serves excellent beer still brewed on site (you can see the impressive vats from the outside), with six different beers on the menu: blonde, abbey, IPA and white. To accompany your liters of beer, a menu offers excellent Czech specialties.

This brewery opened its doors in 2015 on Avenue Nationale. Pivovar Národní serves excellent beers from its own production in a contemporary brewery atmosphere with long dark wooden tables and designer lighting. A subtle marriage between traditional Czech inn and contemporary décor, the whole thing works well and the atmosphere, quickly warmed up, is there every evening. A menu of Czech and international specialities allows you to accompany beer with some culinary specialities.

A small cocktail bar located in one of the most lively streets of Prague's old town a few steps from the Charles Bridge, Hemingway Bar offers excellent cocktails in a subdued American speakeasy atmosphere that has kept its relaxed atmosphere. On the menu are excellent drinks mixed by the mixologist experts at the bar with an impressive menu of spirits, especially rums, champagnes and absinthes. The specialities are to be found on the side of old-fashioned cocktails: an old fashioned or a sour whisky..

A literary café like Prague has many of them. Occupying a street corner in a quiet area, you would walk past it without even noticing it, your eyes lost in the pretty facades of the street houses. People come to sit at beautiful wooden tables in a setting made of old posters and shelves of books to read, buy or exchange. The welcome is warm, the beer is cheap and the small aperitif recipes, typically Czech (sandwiches, marinated sausages...), are irresistible. Perfect address for an early evening.

A very beautiful, authentic and cosy address run by a friendly team. The food is tasty, the coffee is excellent. You can accompany your coffee with delicious homemade pastries, or enjoy a small sandwich with lemonade. The café was launched more than four years ago by two friends and baristas, Dominika and Hanka. It is recommended to take a break in a relaxed and quiet place or to have a hearty breakfast. The place is quite narrow and can quickly become full, so remember to book.

An underground bar in the heart of the old town which is an authentic institution on site with various concerts and lively late nights. It's after midnight that it often fills up with Czechs and expats who come to linger for an after-party and drink one (or more) last drink(s) before going home. For a chain establishment, it's rather successful in terms of atmosphere and decoration. You will also find Popo Café Petl bars in the Malá Strana district in Nové Město, as well as in Vinohrady.

An old-fashioned bar, perfect for a glass of champagne, an old fashioned or a simple beer. Very classic and confidential, it's perfect for an evening for two or a nightcap before going home. The decor is warm and inviting: pretty photos, film posters, slightly industrial lighting and furniture, parquet flooring and bistro tables found here and there: it's successful, harmonious and relaxed. Prices are really affordable, whatever the type of drink ordered, and you won't regret your evening.

Tucked away at the end of an inner courtyard, this wine bar boasts the attractive setting of a former vaulted cellar, where elegant wood and cast-iron furnishings create a warm atmosphere. On the bar side, a few cocktails and beers, but above all a very fine wine list of all origins, with a predilection for local Moravian productions. Every evening, new bottles are opened and sold by the glass to ensure new discoveries every day. Complement your meal with a fine cheese and charcuterie platter.

Halfway between Charles Square and the Vltava River, this bar is also halfway between the grooviness of the sign and the electronics of the atmosphere. The cocktails are well made and the prices honest considering the setting and the quality of service. Enough to warm up the atmosphere while waiting for the arrival of the DJs who play there every night. You can also taste small tapas there if you have a hollow. Good atmosphere and friendly welcome, far from the touristy bars of the city center. It is advisable to call to reserve.

Still on the wine bar scene but... Italian style! The great wines of Puglia, Tuscany, or the more rustic Nero d'Avola from Sicily accompany the small plates of carpaccio, octopus or pasta that we eat on the go as an appetizer, just to whet our appetites. The portions are small and will be suitable for an aperitif, unless you order theantipasti assortments, which will be enough to feed the greediest. Bubble lovers can also order lambrusco.

A good place to rest between Mala Strana and Smichov or before attacking Petrin Hill. This small room overlooking Ujezd Street, very busy and touristic, offers a wide choice of coffees and teas as well as excellent homemade pastries. The setting is cozy and comfortable, with its flowery chairs and chandeliers and a charming welcome. Ideal for a break! Try to choose one of the tables overlooking the windows, open to the street in the summer, and let yourself be absorbed by the ballet of passers-by and tramways.

The premises are tiny, and most of the time the atmosphere is quiet, despite the fact that this little alleyway is just a few steps from Old Town Square. We come here for the cocktails: quirky, innovative and surprising recipes, expertly crafted by waiters who, unlike those in the other bars of this type that are legion to open in Prague, don't take themselves too seriously and ensure that the Čili Bar has a relaxed atmosphere ideal for an early evening with friends or a romantic evening. Original, full-bodied recipes!

A trendy and sophisticated meeting place, an ideal place for lovers of music and cocktails. The Silwer is very busy, even during the days of the week, by the locals with electronic music, which is always good sign.

In the very touristic Karlova Street (which leads to the Charles Bridge), the Kafe Damu belonging to the Disk Theatre looks like a haven of peace that has kept its Czech soul. In a large, airy, trendy and contemporary space, you can enjoy a coffee, a cocktail or a homemade beer over a sandwich or good salads. Isolated from the street and the permanent tourist hustle and bustle, you can take a perfect and relaxing break on the way to the Charles Bridge. So much so that it will probably seem difficult to get out again!
