The large village of Marathokampos is the gateway to the southwestern beaches of Samos. Located south of Mount Kerkis, it is a pretty village with traditional houses surrounded by pine trees, olive trees and vineyards. The Easter celebrations are authentic and special: people come from all over the island during the Holy Week. It is a very solemn and festive occasion not to be missed if you are here during the Orthodox Easter. Among the particularities to note: the big fireworks where the different parishes have to make as much noise and smoke as possible. Avoid this if you are sensitive to fireworks and firecrackers.
