Twenty kilometers northwest of Vathi, the white houses with their ochre-tiled roofs and the pretty little harbor are a reminder that Kokkari was, not so long ago, a simple fishing village. You will still see some of them checking the meshes of their nets on the quay, and there are still some traditional taverns on the harbor that grill the fish of the day. But Kokkari has become a classic seaside resort with a long pebble beach and a very touristy shopping street along the waterfront. Kokkari is still a nice place to go to the beaches and the beautiful villages in the area.
