Travel Guide Feres

28 km from Alexandroupoli and only 6 km from Turkey, the town is built on the Evros delta. 10 km further on is the Garden Bridge, the crossing point to Turkey. Feres was founded around the fortified monastery of Panagia Kosmosotira in the 12th century. Today, it is mainly a hunting area. Nature lovers can visit the Dadia forest, following the direction of Souphli, the most important natural park in Europe for birds of prey. From Feres, one can visit the delta of the river Evros, of rare beauty and untouched by tourist development. It is a military zone, so photos are not allowed.
