It is the day when the Allies landed at seven different points. A tribute to the victims is held every year.To find your way around, it's simple, everything is concentrated around the docks and the Clock Square(Saat Kulesi Meydanı): tourist office, banks, dolmuş. The city of Çanakkale owes its name to the word canak which means "pot". The ancient traditions of pottery are still preserved and the products made by local craftsmen are renowned beyond the country's borders. The city is full of students, which makes for lively evenings in the streets. It remains a good base for exploring the archaeological and historical riches of the surrounding area.
