Like all war exhibits, there are the good and bad sides (of having an exhebition). Right now, Oct 2023, the Dubrovnik présentation in 50% Ukrainian, 50% "Yougoslavia no more"; not quite what i expected in Dubrovnik.

However, all the photos are an excellent reminder why humanity should have learned by now that war only has loosers. (Any) gains should have been discussed around the table, lives saved. Some of the photos are the hard, true cliches of what war in a prosperous town shouldn't be.

I left humbled. Saddened by what saw, glad that things, in western Europe at least, stable. Wishing stability will return ASAP to the people of Ukraine ????????.

Amazing photography documenting the savage nature of war. Must visit if you are a photographer, or into combat photography. They give 20% discount with the city pass.

Some hard hitting photography

Really powerful, and worth a visit. They're keeping it current with photos from the war in Ukraine as well as the 1991-95 Homeland War. 20% off entry if you have a Dubrovnik Pass - even one for a previous day.

Interesting museum. €10 entry fee is okay. Could easily spend a hour viewing and rwading about the photos. Educational look at the side of war most don't want to see or accept.

Not a wholly negative experience, but there were some issues worth mentioning. It might be more accurate to call it a gallery and not a museum. It is a bit small, and there was quite minimal information about the conflicts depicted. In some cases, the short descriptions of the photos did not help much to contextualize. I also felt it was missing some information from the photographers themselves (there was one short description about one photographer in the special exhibition section). Also, this is just my opinion, but I found it a bit off-putting seeing prices to purchase prints of some of the photos in the information booklet they give you at the entrance.

Lastly, it is obviously a very sombre place to visit, and unfortunately while I was there, there was a rather loud discussion about global politics going on among a group of people at the front desk. The sound carried through practically the whole place, so it was difficult to properly focus and reflect.

One of the most interesting museums I’ve ever visited. You get a booklet which takes you through each photography, really weaves an interesting/heartbreaking story for those eager to learn more about the breakup of Yugoslavia.

Theses photos.. Just wow. Some of the most real photos I've seen. Some are quite grafic/potentially upsetting but don't let this put you off this musuem is a must.

It’s a gem if your heart can stand it. Obviously difficult to write “positive” review about pictures because of the subject. I can only point out that the exhibition itself is very well organized. Rest is up to you…

A thought provoking place to visit and learn about the tragedy and futility of wars. It makes you wonder if we will ever learn .

Really worth a visit, reasonably priced and you can get through it within an hour or so. Some confronting images, but that’s the point. Leaves you asking ‘why though?’.

Great exhibition especially considering the price. As others have pointed out it's at times hard to read the catalog as there are some not well lit spots.

On the one hand it’s a great selection of war photos, on the most important subject, and a good source of reflection on what happened in former Yugoslavia and what has been going on in Ukraine for almost ten years now. On the other hand, it’s pricey, and and obvious cash grab on the war that went over Dubrovnik three decades ago. I didn’t like some chaos in the exhibition e.g. photos from Vukovar siege of 1991 in Bosnian war 1993 section. I think that despite declarations the role of Croats in this war was not fully explained.

Incredibly good photo gallery - a must visit. Powerful and moving, the mantra that a picture tells the story of a thousand words couldn't be more relevant.

Un must.
