A dance, a fight, a play... The moreška is Croatia's most famous sword dance and a fundamental element of Korčula's identity. The roots of this four-century-old tradition go back to the time of the wars between Christians and Moors. Today, the moreška symbolizes the struggle between good and evil, namely the fight between the armies of the Black King and the White King for a beautiful young woman, promised to the White King.
