Founded in 1956, this regional museum covers the major historical eras, from Prehistory to the Middle Ages, via Antiquity and Modern Times. The Hellenistic period is well represented: altars dedicated to Roman gods, statues of goddesses, everyday objects such as ornate flasks, amphorae, clay tiles and ceramic pots. More recent are the region's traditional costumes, military history, weapons and a collection of contemporary art.
