Travel Guide Lac Itasy

Lake Itasy (3,500 ha, thethird largest lake in the country) allows for an escapade in the hilly landscapes of the Highlands. All around, avocados and papayas are cultivated and bononoka, a concoction based on fermented cassava, is prepared. It is said that a beautiful "water fairy" bewitched a young and handsome fisherman in this lake. According to this legend, when the wind blows low over the water, it is the murmur of their song that rises.Be careful, we strongly advise you not to swim there. A boat ride can take you to a beautiful islet. The excursion is also possible by a "rough" track of 5 km, shortly after Ampefy.
