390 km from Istanbul and 100 km from Amasra. Safranbolu is an open-air museum where time stood still between the 18th and 19th centuries. Abandoned, it knows a new breath in 1970, when the renovation of konaks, traditional Ottoman houses, is started. Thanks to the work done, Safranbolu has been listed as a Unesco World Heritage Site since 1994. If you don't like wandering through the alleys and markets and discovering the way of life through a remarkably preserved architecture, this city will have little interest for you. During the winter, the city under the snow, forsaken by tourists, is wonderful.
