Fifty kilometers from Marmaris is the small town of Köyceğiz, on a peaceful lake connected to the Mediterranean by the small Dalyan Çayı River. A few restaurants serve freshly caught fish. It is a nice alternative for those who like walking or boating, away from the hustle and bustle of the crowds. You can spend the night here and use it as a base for your excursions to Kaunos, Iztuzu beach and the mud baths, as most tourists prefer to stay in Dalyan. Theotogar is a 5-minute dolmuş ride from the center. By bus, regular connections to Dalaman (20 minutes), Fethiye (2 hours), Marmaris (45 minutes).
