Originally a Bedouin encampment, Nuweiba grew in size and importance. Its tourist development came later than Dahab's, and Nuweiba's town center is of no real interest. It remains one of the most beautiful landscapes on the coast: the mountain is close by, seemingly flowing into the sea. If you have a car, you can drive north up the road to bathe in the wild and beautiful fjords. The beach at Tarabin is very quiet and clean. While in Nuweiba, don't miss Basata, Egypt's first ecolodge. There is no bank in Nuweiba.
