The small town of Al Bad' is located on the road that crosses Wadi Aful, wedged between the Sarawat range on the edge of the Red Sea and that of Jabal al-Lawz. It is 25 km as the crow flies from the sea and at the foot of the mountains, making it an ideal location. The area has been occupied since ancient times and the area around Al Bad' is full of petroglyphs dating back to the Neolithic period. The Nabataeans left behind tombs with facades similar to those in Petra (Jordan) and Hegra. Al Bad' also has a biblical significance. Its well is said to be where Moses rescued the 7 daughters of Jethro from nomadic shepherds.
