Port Safaga is still protected from the real estate development that is sweeping Hurghada. This fishing port is less than 60 km to the south. Originally, Safaga was mainly used for the transit of raw materials such as phosphate. Given the presence of port facilities, which are quite visible in the landscape, it's not as "naturally" beautiful as Hurghada. The first hotels and diving clubs have already set up in Safaga. Some divers even claim that the seabed is more than equal to that of Hurghada. For the time being, however, Safaga offers little in the way of accommodation, and the village is somewhat deserted.
