Chiang Khan is built on the right (south) bank of the Mekong River. The river marks the border with Laos. About 50 kilometres away from Loei, this small town has teak houses dating from the beginning of the 20th century, which give the town a traditional, charming appearance that is no longer so often found in Thailand. This small town deserves a stopover, both for lovers of walks in the middle of the countryside and for those who like to laze by the water. You can easily find small guesthouses with a view of the river, just to admire the sunset from its terrace.
