A true historical institution: the puppet show has always seduced the Slovenian people. The role of Milan Klemenčič in the creation of this scene was absolutely essential. The beautiful building on the right bank of the Ljubljanica River therefore hosts puppet shows for children and adults. Several hundred performances are given each year. The room is embellished with a pretty little museum that puts this Slovenian passion into perspective.

SNG DRAMA

Concert halls

This is Slovenia's national theater. Built in 1911, the building is recognizable by its Art Nouveau spirit and eye-catching almond-green facade. The first Slovenian-language theatrical performance took place here in 1919. Today, the national troupe is made up of 45 actors and actresses who perform a repertoire that is both classical and international. For the 2024 season, one of the most popular plays in French theater is in the spotlight: Cyrano de Bergerac. The main auditorium can accommodate up to 436 spectators.

BAR PRULČEK - LIVE MUSIC

Prulček is an alternative cultural venue located on the outskirts of central Ljubljana. Every week, a program of artists perform in concert, and admission is free to promote culture for all, although a voluntary and spontaneous contribution is greatly appreciated. A dozen draught beers are available, as is the house burger on Thursday evenings. It's the place to be in Ljubljana to join the locals and enjoy the nightlife. Events can be viewed online on the website.
