The village is located in a picturesque setting. The winding road leading to it is paved at the end. At the edge of the village, close to the ochre cliffs, a path leads to the only thermal spring on the island of Flores. Very well hidden and difficult to access, this hot spring is said to cure rheumatism, but also... to cook shellfish. On June 10, 1909, the Slavonia, one of the largest and most luxurious liners of its time, ran aground off the coast of Lajedo. The island's inhabitants were delighted with the antique store, and took advantage of the opportunity to furnish their homes a little more luxuriously.
