Come rain, shine or snow, the Cantinho Dos Anjos pub is always a good place to be! Even out of season. It's not for nothing that São Miguel locals compare it to Peter's Bar on Faial. Tourists and locals rub shoulders in a friendly atmosphere. It's all orchestrated by José Anjos, the owner, who'll be delighted to talk to you about his island, if he's not too overwhelmed by the draught beers... Note that if you prefer the seaside, the same manager also owns the atmospheric Baia dos Anjos bar, on the Portas do Mar marina.

This superb building, dating from 1917, is São Miguel's "Opera House". It has been recently and beautifully renovated. Numerous grandiose performances take place here, and internationally renowned artists come to perform. Philharmonic concerts, circuses, balls and even exhibitions are all on the program. A trendy bar with good music programming.

A big crush. Hidden in a dead end, this downtown bar offers excellent wines to accompany delicious tapas, regional cheeses and Portuguese deli meats full of flavours. The choice of wines is impressive. The service is attentive and above all informed! The boss is a passionate person who will be happy to advise you. For an evening with friends, family or lovers, all occasions are good. Few tables available in this intimate space, it is better to book.

A multi-faceted bar, it's famous throughout the archipelago. During the day, you can sit on the terrace with a drink, passively watching the hustle and bustle of the shopping center. In the evening, the atmosphere is more lounge-like, except at weekends when DJs and live concerts set the place alight. The menu also includes light meals, toasts and crêpes... if you're feeling a little hungry. Various events are also organized throughout the year. A really nice address, to be enjoyed at any time of day.

Inaugurated on March 31, 1951, the Teatro Micaelense was designed by renowned cinema and theater architect Raul Rodrigues de Lima. On the initiative of Francisco Luís Tavares, deputy director, and with the support of the society of the time, this great theater was built in an urban space expressly torn up to accommodate it. A pleasant bar where you can stroll along the terrace, sipping a cocktail by the sea. You can also enjoy a good local beer. The cosy, colorful decor makes the atmosphere all the more welcoming. And if you feel like it, you can buy a book about the Azores in the small multilingual bookshop in the back. Late in the evening, the atmosphere is more festive and you can put your book away. The location is really privileged, and it's no coincidence that many locals meet here.
