The road from Mayarí extends to Mbo, one of the country's largest industrial centres. A huge ore deposit (nickel, cobalt and iron), the area is one of Cuba's economic and strategic lungs. Between chimneys, factories, toxic fumes and the éventration of mountain foothills, which are terribly marked by mechanical pelle, the place has nothing very fun… so you move very quickly. Note that the road between Mayarí and Mbo is one of the worst in the country. Once Mbo dépassé, the road connects Baracoa to the extreme southeast of the island but it is also in very bad condition… If you are in a rental car, you will be discouraged. It is better to go with a driver who has a good 4 x 4 model car. However, you are waiting for beautiful landscapes between the ocean that lick the shores, the dense forest and isolated villages.
