Capital of the eponymous province, Guantánamo does not present any interest. So we pass very quickly. The city is most famous worldwide for the Guantánamo prison located on the eponymous American naval base. This prison receives people suspected of terrorist activities following the attacks of September 11, 2001 and still has 40 prisoners. On a more cheerful note, the city is also known for its very popular song, Guajira Guantánamera, which you will hear or sing more than once during your trip to Cuba.
