Declared a Natural Biosphere Reserve by UNESCO, the largest park in Cuba is also one of the largest in the Caribbean (80,000 ha). It extends from the San Juan hill, scene of the confrontation between the US and Spanish troops in 1898 - now home to the Santiago zoo and the 26 de Julio amusement park - to the Baconao lagoon. Beautiful landscapes between the foothills of the Sierra Maestra and the Caribbean Sea. Hiking trails, diving sites and the Gran Piedra hotel-restaurant will make your stay easier and more enjoyable. To access the area, take the Carretera Siboney. Excursions with guide possible.
