A very cute little village dominated by an imposing fortress. The picturesque surroundings of Vélez Blanco are part of the Sierra María Natural Park, a mountain range that is very beautiful in winter. The story goes that the Marquis of Vélez left his church to one of his sons, Vélez Rubio, and his castle to the other, Vélez Blanco. This is the last village in Andalusia where the water will be shared at 9am. At the end of July, the Comarca de los Vélez goes back to the Middle Ages with a medieval market. The region has about thirty shelters and caves decorated with engravings and paintings, to be discovered via 9 marked trails.
