SINAGOGA DEL AGUA
Synagogue in the heart of the city exhibiting unique pieces of the three cultures
Discovered by chance during construction work in the heart of town, a possible synagogue with its extraordinary mikveh (Jewish ritual purification bath, 12th and 13th centuries) has just been added to the exceptional wealth of Úbeda's heritage, which once included at least four synagogues. A surprising (dazzling!) space, made up of seven renovated rooms with crystal-clear water wells, vaults, arches and capitals, where unique pieces from the three cultures brought together in Úbeda during the Middle Ages, collected thanks to modern means of communication, are on display. Part of the complex may date back to the Neolithic period (over 5,000 BC). A must-see! One small regret: the guided tour is a little brief.
