Rantau Abang lies 58 km south of Kuala Terengganu and 140 km north of Kuantan. Every year, several species of turtle, including the green turtle, come here to lay their eggs. Unfortunately, the endangered giant leatherback turtle has not been seen here for several years. Locals love their eggs, and fishermen's nets and pollution have affected their cycles. While waiting for them to reappear, you can learn about the delicate work of sea turtle preservation by attending screenings at the Rantau Abang Turtle Information Centre. Please note that the center is closed on Fridays.
