Travel Guide Pulau Duyong

Pulau Duyung is the largest island at the entrance to the Sungai Terengganu estuary. Located just opposite Kuala Terengganu, it offers an easily accessible getaway from the city. To get there, take the friendly ferry that departs from the Central Market and links the island to the city. The traditional atmosphere of the kampung is still very much alive here, with its stilt houses and fishing boats, coconut palms and dense vegetation. Artisanal shipyards and old Malay houses make for a picture-postcard setting. You can see what Kuala Terengganu was like at the end of the 19th century, just 10 minutes from the capital.
