On the road between Tivaouane and Saint-Louis, every Monday, Ngaye Mékhé hosts a large market where farmers and craftsmen meet. Leather goods, loincloths, sculptures... You will find some cheap Senegalese souvenirs, but mostly shoes! Capital of Senegalese craftsmanship, the city saw the creation in 2014 of the leather shoes brand B & Shoes launched by a young man from the village, Matar Mohamed Baby. They are made entirely by hand by village shoemakers trained in the cutting technique. During your visit to Ngaye Mekhe, you can push the door of the craftsmen's workshops and appreciate their work.
