A few fathoms from the capital, the island of Ngor is a small corner of paradise, accessible by dugout canoe or, for the more sporty, by swimming. The water is incredibly clear, and its beautiful beaches, surely the cleanest in Senegal. Moreover, a real effort has been made here in terms of daily cleaning, and it is one of the few places in Senegal to have garbage bins. Even if you quickly get around it, the stroll through the narrow, flowery streets with almost Mediterranean accents, which lead from one beach to another, is very pleasant. It is also a well-known surfing spot in the region, but only for experienced surfers.
