It has about 12,000 inhabitants. This village is famous for its bread and its magnificent church San Bartolomé, dedicated to Virgen María La Bella, whose dome is covered with earthenware. The interior of the church is adorned with paintings by the master of Arani, who belongs to the Potosí school. On August 24, the Virgin Mary is celebrated with great pomp. In the Plaza Principal, you will see the first eucalyptus trees, once imported from Australia and now part of the landscape of the Bolivian valleys. About 90% of the village is inhabited by the Quechua community. El Castillo, a recently completed medieval-style castle, is another tourist attraction in the village.
