Located just over 40 minutes by car from the centre of Cochabamba in the famous Valle Alto, this historic village with a colonial feel is home to an 18th century Franciscan convent, the Convent of San Jose, as well as the home of two luminaries of Bolivian history: Melgarejo and Barrientos. Their former home has become one of the best chicherias in the village. The church and the main square are very beautiful as well as the colonial architecture of the houses and the bridge of Melgarejo. You can easily spend half a day there. Thursday is the market day. Don't hesitate to try the famous chorizos tarateños!
