THE PREBEND TOWER
Tower housing a magnificent Renaissance-style spiral staircase leading to the last of Tarare's 5 landings.
Also known as the "Tour du château", the Tour de la Prébende dates from the late 15th century and bears the name of the parish priest who had it built. Restored by the town in 1980, it houses a magnificent Renaissance-style spiral staircase serving 5 levels, leading to the last landing on a platform overlooking the town's old quarter. Two restored rooms are devoted to local heritage. A third is dedicated to textile history. An architectural masterpiece that you can visit to step back in time.
