DOMAINE DE LA GRANGE CHARTON
This is one of the most remarkable examples of rural architecture in Beaujolais. It is a set of buildings built in the 3 000 th and 2nd centuries, organized around a large courtyard of m. On the right, ten houses of wine growers follow the principle of the traditional beaujolaise house with its accommodation served by a stone staircase above the entrance of the cellar. The other three sides are agricultural buildings: cellars, rebates and above all a huge wine cellar. Since 1806, the estate belongs to the Hospices de Beaujeu. 13 wine growers with sharecropping manage manage the area of Charlton Barn, and 8,5 hectares are operated directly by the Hospices. Each winery ensures the vinification, the pressurages, the envasements of its harvest, under the responsibility of the domain manager. You will find régnié, brouilly, morgon, beaujolais-villages.
