Formerly the home of Baron Jonas Vitta, the Hôtel Vitta, built in Lyon between 1858 and 1861, is now home to the military governor.

Built between 1858 and 1861 for Baron Jonas Vitta, then purchased by the city in 1913, Lyon's Hôtel Vitta is home to the Gouverneur Militaire. This magnificent Second Empire-style building, marked by Florentine influences, boasts sumptuous architecture and interior decoration. Today, the Military Governor of Lyon is in charge of protocol and command for the South-East land region and the South-East defense zone.
