When it comes to value for money, Lyon's (real) bouchons hold the key. Although it's located in one of Lyon's most upscale districts, Le Bouchon du Peintre, owned by Florence Périer, one of the last remaining Mères Lyonnaises, is no exception to the rule that makes the bouchon a popular place where all social classes mix. Every lunchtime for the dish of the day, and even earlier for the traditional mâchon, you can't fail to find yourself at this bouchon, where the Lyonnais tradition of lovingly homemade food is perpetuated. Among the must-try dishes are terrine and tête de veau. Wine, with 1,200 references selected by Max, is the other pleasure of this gourmet house.

Absolutely delicious place - voted best Bouchon of Lyon. Florence - the chef - is a proper "mère lyonnaise" and if you want a great wine to accompany her tasty dishes, ask Max... He knows his stuff
