LULU SUR LA COLLINE

Theater
4/5
3 reviews

Lulu has set up shop at Jean Macé. Lulu does us so much good, even more so in these times of "crises" in the plural, with its program of comedies full of madness to share. A colorful, cheerful theater, in the image of Renaud Gairard, the reopened head acrobat who decided to bring these walls back to life with a beautiful 180-seat auditorium and a table to enjoy along with the audience's comments. A place dedicated to comedy and laughter, to revivals of classic texts and to the most unusual creations, can only be salutary at a time when the performing arts need our support. Let's have fun with Lulu!

THÉÂTRE DE LA TÊTE D’OR

Theater
4/5
2 reviews

Lyon's first private theater, launched on January 17, 1980, and run by Pascal Héritier and Bruno Davanzo. The current venue on avenue de Saxe can accommodate 371 spectators between two confinements, and is often sold out. Audiences who book their seats at the Théâtre de la Tête d'Or well in advance know they're in for a good laugh, with plenty of misunderstandings and enthusiastic actors - often stage stars. The venue specializes in boulevard comedy and vaudeville, not forgetting the chansonniers.

VÉRITABLE THÉÂTRE GUIGNOL

Theater
3.8/5
4 reviews

While we await the hypothetical reopening of a VTG castelet (not to be confused with a fast train) at the GHD (we like to leave you in the lurch when it comes to initials), back to square one at the Parc de la Tête d'Or, where it all began for this company over 75 years ago. Guignol is a monument to Lyon's heritage, with its famous puppets and colorful characters. A Lyonnais tradition to be respected by all ages, as the show offers different levels of interpretation, not all of them innocent... Guignol, it's so good!

THÉÂTRE DES CÉLÉSTINS

Theater
4/5
1 review

To each his own, but Les Célestins remains the best theater in France when it comes to creating shows. A splendid Italian-style theater whose programming is second to none, the venue alone is well worth a visit. Shows on tour, and others created and staged at Les Célestins, all under the leadership of director Pierre-Yves Lenoir, assisted by Lise Gaillard. Some 200,000 spectators enjoy them every year, especially the in-house creations. Numerous initiatives to promote access to culture and theater for all audiences, including reasonable ticket prices, workshops and encounters. Indispensable Célestins.

PETIT THEATRE DE POCHE

Theater
5/5
1 review

Le Petit Théâtre led by Janine Berdin still presents young, dynamic and entertaining shows for the pleasure of all audiences. As its name indicates, this Little Pocket Theatre is not very large, but its human size facilitates rapprochement with all the public, especially school students who can analyze the game of the actors under all the seams and almost under their noses! Traditionally, each representation is followed by an exchange between actors and public in a friendly relationship.

THÉÂTRE CARRÉ 30

Theater

Théâtre Carré 30 is a small theater in the heart of Lyon. Since its creation five years ago, it has welcomed Lyon-based and emerging companies, offering a first opportunity for young artists to present their work to the public. The theater's programming is diverse, ranging from contemporary theater and improvisation to concerts and shows for young audiences. With only 30 tiered seats, intimacy is guaranteed and allows impressive proximity to the actors. Audiences often have the opportunity to meet the actors and share their impressions over a complimentary post-show drink. The theater also offers escape games on Heritage Days. To support this artistic initiative, the theater is looking for volunteers for the coming season.

THÉÂTRE LE GUIGNOL DE LYON (COMPAGNIE MA)

Theater
Closed - Open to 10h00

The Guignol de la rue Carrand could just as easily draw the curtain following the departure of the Zonzons company - remote by the municipality whose relationship with Guignol still seems problematic… - with whom Guignol and his entire troupe (we must know that the puppets belong to the city…) had spent so many years. Let's say it all go, it wasn't going to happen like that! We are Lyon and Guignol is part of the heritage. Fortunately, the MA company took over the torch (we hope it won't stop) and we could attend a representation of Guignol and the 40 seats, "pestacle" programmed until June. We will probably have to wait until the spring to learn more about the fate of this beautiful house dedicated to Guignol which, we hope, will continue to live without ever becoming a museum!

LA MAISON DE GUIGNOL

Theater

Punch always has a say, even when masked! We fell in love with this superb old-fashioned theatre in the heart of the Saint-Georges district, at the foot of the rugged Gourguillon hill and on the Place de la Trinité. Futé loves the good-natured atmosphere of the place, the café-theatre atmosphere, an integral part of Lyon's heritage, and of course the shows by Guignol from the classical repertoire or composed of creations. In addition, the Maison de Guignol offers excellent café-theatre shows in the evenings. Privatization possible.

THÉÂTRE DE LA CROIX-ROUSSE

Theater

The TXR is a popular theatre designed as a place to live. Formerly a village hall, this national stage offers a varied program that reaches a wide audience, from committed plays to the great classics. Directed by Courtney Geraghty, it is a place to promote the work of regional directors. It is also a place open to the world, whose theatrical art is also performed outside the walls with a travelling creation and a creation residency in a hospital environment.
