There's no need to hop on a plane at the nearby airport to head for southern Europe when Genas, just outside Lyon, offers a destination with a Spanish flavour. In the peaceful Azieu district, near Eurexpo, a charming house welcomes us with its lovely summer terrace. A warm welcome, a relaxed atmosphere and quality home cooking by Mathieu, a butcher by trade, who treats us to delicious hot and cold tapas, succulent meats or grilled octopus casera. Lunch is served with a dish of the day, tapas and a tasty dessert, offering exceptional value for money. Sangria and cocktails, beers and a selection of wines to prolong the pleasure of the journey.
