I visited many years ago. It was a simple video followed by a simple tour and gift shop with a large variety of products, reasonably priced. Times have changed. Pre-booking is now mandatory for the tour. There is a sleek looking bar with all the charm of a soulless chain hotel. The gift shop has the same corporate look with rows of the same things, completely over priced. €35 for a T-Shirt, scandalous. Standard green Chartreuse is cheaper in the supermarket down the road. I had come several hours out of my way and stayed locally especially to buy some VEP. They had run out. The staffer told me they get two deliveries per week, not always on the same days. I phoned late the next morning and was told "we do not disclose VEP stock levels over the phone". When I explained that I had made the trip specially, been there the day before and that I might have to make another 40 minute round trip only to leave empty handed I was told that it was "Management's policy". I have been advocating for Chartreuse for years. Sadly the charming story behind the drink has been ruthlessly commercialised. I will probably continue to buy it but I wouldn't recommend visiting Voiron, it's a waste of time for me.
