An opportunity to visit the Arcabas museum in Chartreuse, to admire its shimmering paintings, sculptures and stained-glass windows.

In 1953, this church reopened its doors after a construction project that would make its walls part of the current revival of sacred art. Painting light, from model to stained glass, is the temporary exhibition (until March 2026) presenting the work of Arcabas. Shimmering paintings, predominantly golds and reds, sculptures and stained glass windows unfold a multitude of little biblical stories. Children will appreciate the many paintings featuring animals.

Franchement, le musée est devenu extraordinaire, du niveau de Palais Idéal du Facteur Cheval grâce à la visite guidée. Elle est une obligation pour profiter pleinement de ce musée-eglise. Vivement le film retraçant la vie de cette immense artiste (et de sa muse, tout aussi extraordinaire).

We first discovered the works of Arcabas at Notre Dame de la Salette. Coincidentally, our holiday lodging was just a stone's throw away from the museum. Free entry. Photos are allowed but none of written documents. No backpacks. A wonderful discovery, the kind lady at the reception is also an artist who learnt from the master himself.
