For the Carthusian monks, the Grande Chartreuse monastery is a place of meditation and prayer. The Musée de la Grande Chartreuse, below the monastery at La Correrie, removes some of the mystery from this spiritual landmark. In a quiet setting, visitors discover the history of the Order and the daily life of the monks, listening attentively to the testimonies of the fathers and brothers. Opening time and information on GRANDE CHARTREUSE MUSEUM
Open from April to early November. In April, May, September, October, November, daily except Thursday, from 2 pm to 6 pm. In June, daily from 10 am to 6:30 pm except Thursday (Sunday open from 2 pm to 6:30 pm). July/August, open daily from 10 am to 6:30 pm, except Sundays from 2 pm to 6:30 pm. Adults: €12. Children (aged 7 to 18): €5. Family pack €22.50.

À un prix qui nous a semblé élevé (pour le contenu des matériels de l'exposition), la visite est trop centrée sur la vie monastique et la spiritualité du moïne...mais pas sur les rapports de l'ordre des Chartreux avec la société. Par exemple, il nous reste toujours la question : qu'est-ce les moines en font des objets qu'ils produisent par leurs "travails manuels" dans la cellule?, comment ils trouvent le financement maintenant, et comment ils faisaient à l'époque?, quelle est leur place dans l'Église et les rapports avec les autres ordres?...
