A museum in Bastille, preserving the memory of the Dauphiné, presents the wealth of the Dauphiné through exhibitions.
Located on the slopes of the Bastille (PRM access) in the former convent of Sainte-Marie-d'en-Haut, the Musée Dauphinois bridges the gap between land and people, local and universal, past and present. This magnificent venue, with its baroque chapel, gardens and terrace, hosts permanent exhibitions - Alpins, 7,000 ans d'histoire and Le rêve blanc, l'épopée des sports d'hiver dans les Alpes - and temporary exhibitions that are not to be missed. Numerous workshops, meetings, guided tours and concerts in a living museum.

Closed on January 1st, May 1st, December 25th. Open on Monday and Wednesday to Friday from 10am to 6pm; on weekends from 10am to 7pm. Free of charge. Guided tour (by appointment).

Since 1968, the Musée Dauphinois has occupied the former convent of Sainte-Marie d'en-Haut, located on the slopes of the Bastille. This historic building, constructed in the 15th century, originally housed the Visitation Sainte-Marie order. Today, the museum is dedicated to forging close links with the original and adopted inhabitants of the Dauphiné Alps. It collects, preserves and shares the vestiges of a common memory. It establishes connections between yesterday and today, the local and the universal, using its collections as keys to deciphering the modern world. Among them, you'll appreciate over a hundred thousand objects and documents. These include ethnographic collections from Alpine cultures and objects of regional decorative art. The museum offers you both a place to investigate Alpine history through the ages and a space to reflect on the present. Every year, it presents two or three exhibitions, with a wealth of publications, lectures and debates. Each exhibition successively addresses the region's archaeology and heritage, both rural and industrial. There are also thematic sections featuring paintings, photos and postcards.
