CHÂTEAU DU BARROUX
Fortified castle that belonged to the lords of Les Baux, restored and hosts artistic and cultural events
This fortified castle belonged to the Lords of Les Baux in the 11th century. It protected the Comtat Venaissin from Saracen and Italian invasions. It was ceded to the papacy in 1229. In 1538, it was transformed into a Renaissance château. Today, the château hosts artistic events and offers tours of the distillery where whisky made from Provencal spelt is distilled. Engrain 100% organic brandy is also worth a taste.
