The Palais du Roure, former home of the Baroncelli family, in Avignon is a museum dedicated to popular arts and traditions,

Magnificent Gothic-style residence occupied by the Baroncelli-Javon family, originally from Florence, for five centuries from 1469 to 1908. Frédéric Mistral named it "Palais du Roure". In 1918, Jeanne de Flandreysy, a friend of Mistral and Folco de Baroncelli, bought and restored it, before ceding it to the city of Avignon in 1959. Today, it houses the Center for Mediterranean Culture, dedicated to Provence, its history, traditions, language and literature. On display is a collection of bells assembled by Jeanne de Flandreysy.

Palais du Roure in Avignon is a fascinating historical site with a lot to offer, but my experience was a bit mixed. The building itself is beautiful, steeped in history, and full of charm. The collection of artifacts, furniture, and artwork provides a unique glimpse into the life and culture of Avignon’s past, making it an interesting place to explore.

However, I found that the visit could have been more enjoyable with better guidance and information. The lack of clear signage and explanations made it difficult to fully appreciate the significance of many exhibits. A guided tour or more detailed descriptions would have greatly enhanced the experience, helping visitors to better understand the historical context and stories behind the items on display.

Overall, Palais du Roure is worth a visit for history enthusiasts, but be prepared to navigate it on your own. With a little more attention to visitor information, it could be a truly exceptional experience.
