The history of the Odeon theater began in 1923, when former stables of the Allées de Meilhan (now the Canebière) were transformed into a complex of 1,600 seats on 3 floors, offering orchestral theater and film. Then in the 1950 s, the Odeon diversified with opars, Marseillaise magazines, music hall and cinema. On these boards, Maurice Chevalier, Joséphine Baker, Mistinguett, Yves Montand, Edith Piaf or Charles Trénet sang during the interacts, imagine a little! The 7 th art will then take advantage, but its inexorable decline in the face of the advent of television will lead to its conversion into a municipal theater of 800 seats, a return to its primary vocation, with the display of entertainment (boulevard theater, authors' plays, humorous performances) and operetta. Since 2015, the Marseille Opera and the Odeon Theater have merged, under the direction of Maurice Xiberra. In 2018, the Odeon's planks will also be known as Francis Huster, François Berleand and Clémentine Célarié.
