Refuge in Saint-Jean-Pied-de-Port with a very affordable rate for pilgrims on the road to Compostela.
7.5 km from Saint-Jean-Pied-de-Port on the GR65, in the commune of Uhart-Cize, this refuge welcomes pilgrims on their way to Compostela. For those who don't want to push themselves too hard on the first day of the pilgrimage, this refuge is a good, affordable place to spend the night before reaching the Lépoéder pass on the way to Roncesvalles. Housed in a former "Kaiolar" (sheepfold), this 28-person accommodation (dormitories with 6 to 10 bunk beds) is ideal for a rest stop, and features a restaurant that showcases traditional cuisine.

Great place to stay if you want to split the walk to Roncesvalles up into two days. Nice pilgrims meal and the tradition of each person introducing themselves and their reason for walking the Camino were truly inspirational.

The view is worth the money alone. Nice meal, plenty of food, and served a lot of people very quickly. This is the place on the Camino I will remember most of all. Wonderful!!!
