SYNAGOGUE DE PAU ET ASSOCIATION CULTURELLE ISRAÉLITE DE PAU
Built in 1880 on a plot of 715 m ², this synagogue is a sober building with a single level of elevation, it presents David's stars inscribed on the double door and, like all of the world, represents the Temple of Jerusalem. For two centuries, the Jewish community of Pau has been attested and an Israeli cemetery bears witness to this presence. After a period of decline after the First World War, it revived under the impetus of refugees from eastern and northern Europe between the two wars. It was even one of the few synagogues that remained open during the Second World War (thanks to its location in a free zone at the beginning of the conflict and then to the action of Just local ones). The synagogue does not visit, but Pau's cultural association in Pau offers many community activities ranging from Hebrew classes to afternoon tea and coffee. If you are a Jewish faith and you are in Pau for shabbat meals, you can be invited to share it!
