LE CARNAVAL BIARNÉS
The Carnaval Biarnés, one of the biggest in France, is a tribute to Pyrenean folklore. Emblematic figures such as the bear, the wild men and Sent Pançard, king of bad feelings, punctuate this festival where Béarn culture is at the heart of the celebrations. From the Nuit de l'Ours, a symbol of freedom, to the effervescent strolls, carnival is an act of cultural resistance, notably with the Carnav'escòlas, which transmits the language to the young. The trial of Sent Pançard and his cremation herald the culmination of the ritual, followed by the Grand Bal and the Mercat (market), where the festivities continue around local produce. A show that blends tradition and modernity.
