After its reintroduction (2022), the Tour de France for women often passes through Pau. The race allows to promote women's cycling.

The Women's Tour de France consists of 8 stages with a total distance of 1,195.6 km, the last stage took place in Pau in 2023. The International Women's Grand Tour has been won by many famous female riders, such as Jeannie Longo. After a long period of absence for the race (between 2009 and 2021), due to funding problems and lack of interest from sponsors, the decision to reintroduce the Women's Tour de France in 2022 has been welcomed by cycling fans and female riders.
