Part of the Université Picardie Jules Verne is located at the crossroads of several districts, in one of the city's historic sites. La Citadelle is now the heart of the UPJV in the city. More than 5,000 students come to study on this exceptional site, which extends over more than 13 hectares. Until 1979, the structure served as a place of resistance and garrison. Since then, it has been abandoned and closed to the public. The new student center was designed by Renzo Piano, the famous architect who built the Centre Georges Pompidou.
