Idaux-Mendy, located in the Aquitaine region, is home to Embal'VERT SAS, an artisan company specializing in the manufacture of eco-friendly products. Alastair Stephen, a beekeeper in the Basque country, launched this business in 2018. Embal'VERT offers an innovative product that replaces plastic cling film. Made from beeswax, it is washable, reusable and biodegradable. The electricity used for its production is hydroelectric, which reduces CO2 emissions. Alastair Stephen manufactures each Embal'VERT in his workshop, helping to preserve the environment by avoiding the use and disposal of almost 70 meters of plastic film per product. Since 2016, he estimates he has saved over 800 kilometers of plastic film. Embal'VERT products are available at Maison Aguerria in Idaux-Mendy.
